Obituary: Jimmy A. Smithson
Jimmy A. Smithson, age 80, of Braselton, Ga., passed away on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013.
He was preceded in death by his wife of twenty-two years, Lola Appling Smithson; parents, Howard and Lenora Smithson; and brother, Bill Smithson.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Patricia Smithson, Franklin, Tenn; son, Mike Smithson, Jacksonville, Fla.; granddaughter, Lauren Smithson; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carol and Vic Webb, Mexico Beach, Fla.; Rachel and Terry Underwood, Deatsville, Ala., Margaret and Donald McDaniel, Lawrenceville, Ga., Faye and Otis Presley, Hoschton, Ga. and Margie and Mike McDowell, Flowery Branch, Ga.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Emily Appling, Young Harris, Ga., James and Shirley Appling, Buford, Ga., Richard and Diane Appling, Young Harris, Ga. and Joe and Pat Appling, Lawrenceville, Ga.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Smithson was born April 4, 1933 in Franklin, Tenn. He was a graduate of Williamson County High School in Franklin. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He was retired from Xerox Corporation as a service engineer after thirty-five years of service. He was a member of Hamilton Mill Presbyterian Church in Buford, Ga. He was an avid golfer.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Dr. Tom Bagley of Hamilton Mill Presbyterian Church officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from noon until 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association in memory of Jimmy A. Smithson.
