Franklin residents mourn mans death on New Years Day
Franklin residents mourned the tragic loss of a Westhaven man who died New Year’s Day after a fall at his residence.
After falling from the second story of his home, Bruce Johnson, 65, died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center at 10:15 p.m.
Mr. Johnson was transported by Vanderbilt LifeFlight to the hospital.
The Franklin Fire Department was dispatched at 1:41 p.m. to the Westhaven residence according to FFD spokesperson Jamie Melton.
Mr. Johnson was reportedly taking down Christmas decorations at the time of the fall.
“The Franklin Fire Department provided medical care and assisted with transferring the patient from the scene to the Vanderbilt LifeFlight helicopter along with Williamson Medical Center EMS,” said Franklin Fire Deputy Chief Mike Culberson. He said the Westhaven golf course served as the helicopter landing zone location.
“We responded to assist the Fire Department with setting up a landing zone for LifeFlight at the Westhaven Golf Course at 1:41 p.m. yesterday for a report of a man who had fallen from a second story window,” said FPD Public Information Officer Eric C.
Johnson on Thursday. “We later learned that he died while at Vanderbilt.”
