Improbable philanthropist to speak at Brentwood Womens meeting

Author Al Andrews is scheduled to speak Jan. 7 at 11 a.m., Meeting Room A, Brentwood Library, at a meeting of the Brentwood Woman’s Club. The public is invited to attend.

Andrews is the director of Porter's Call in Franklin, a ministry to recording artists, which began in 2001. Andrews offers counsel and support to the artists and their families. He also self published a children's book titled, The Boy, The Kite, and the Wind. Most recently, he founded the charitable enterprise, Improbable Philanthropy. Andrews devotes 100 percent of the profits of his children's books to charities that aid children in crisis and inner city initiatives.

According to his blog, “For years, I have seen pictures of children in need, looking at me from magazines, from television, or from the web. Like most folks, I have been deeply moved by these images. Moved to care. Moved to give. Moved to sponsor. Moved to support people who help these kids.”

Andrews will talk about his philanthropic experiences next week at the library.
