Sizzle Awards forges blazing trail to find the best
Over 100 business owners in Williamson County might want to clear a space on their counters for the anticipation of a Sizzle Award first place trophy—touting their position as the best in the county.
The 7th Annual Sizzle Awards, presented by Southern Exposure Magazine, Williamson Herald, and FranklinIS, forges ahead in the search for the best of the best in Williamson County in about 100 top spots in categories from cuisine and entertainment to shopping and services.
“With this contest, local business owners get to be noticed for all they do for the community,” said Brandy Blanton, founder and publisher of Southern Exposure Magazine.
Polls opened Feb. 1 and will continue through March 6. Cast your vote at www.williamsonherald.com. Top winners from the past year are automatically listed on the ballot. If a favorite is not included, voters are encouraged to include it on the list.
The contest includes over a dozen new categories including such honors as “Best Gluten-Free Menu” and “Best Youth Music Instruction” as well as the reemergence of past categories such as “Best Builder/Developer.”
During a brainstorming session seven years ago, Blanton and Julian Bibb, SEM editor-in-chief, noted the need for a community poll recognizing the best in Williamson County. From that meeting, the Sizzle Awards were born and has formed a blazing trail to find the best ever since.
The amount of community participation increases each year, drawing thousands of voters in 2013, Blanton said.
The top winner of each category earns a trophy and the second and third place winners receive a certificate. Winners will be announced in the Williamson Herald in March, in SEM and online after being honored at an evening celebration March 18 at The Factory at Franklin.
