Betty Jane (Hendon) Sharp

Betty Jane (Hendon) Sharp, 74, of Franklin, passed away on March 16, 2020, after an extended illness.

Mrs. Sharp graduated from Hillsboro School and attended MTSU, studying home economics. She worked over 30 years in local banking institutions, including Harpeth Bank, First Tennessee Bank, Nations Bank and Bank of America.

She co-managed her family’s beauty salon, Hair Magic, and was a detention officer at Williamson County Juvenile Detention Center and a Tupperware salesperson. Betty was also an award-winning artist.

She was a longtime Girl Scout and Girl Scout leader. Her greatest joys were being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a wonderful example of strength, humor and Christian love to all that met her.

She was preceded in death by parents, Joseph Freeman Hendon and Mildred (Poyner) Hendon, and former husband, Harry Ezell Sharp. She's survived by daughters, Jennifer (Johnny) Henry of Franklin and Malinda (Doug) Baltz of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; five grandchildren, Jade Thomas, Kristen (Cody) Royse, Noah (Marissa) Barnhill, Charity “Charlie” Elrod and Jeff Henry; and seven great-grandchildren, Phoenix Thomas, Kira, Gavin and Gage Godwin, Zane Barnhill, Corbin Royse and soon-to-be born Fiona Barnhill.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2020, at Garrison United Methodist Church in Franklin, officiated by Reverend Dr. Marty Bell. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., and the service will follow at 2 p.m. There will be no burial service. A limited number of masks will be available for those needing one.
