Billie Alean Carter Hoobler, 88, of Franklin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Hoobler was born on Oct. 24, 1930 in Lepanto, Arkansas, the daughter of James and Edith Carter. She married Alfred James Hoobler on Sept. 13, 1958 in Dearborn, Michigan, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 1993.
Billie was a distinguished teacher for over 30 years in Michigan and a graduate of the University of Michigan. She loved the Lord and enjoyed being in Bible study for many years, where she also served. She was a member of Brentwood Baptist Church and she sang in the Senior Choir.
Billie loved to golf, sew, garden and spend time with her grandchildren, whom she adored.
She’s survived by daughter, Heather Thurman of Franklin; son, Michael Hoobler of Whittemore, Michigan; four grandchildren, Lisa Borenski of Plymouth, Michigan, Elizabeth Thurman of Franklin, Mikey Hoobler of Boston and Sarah Thurman of Chicago; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Jimmie Sue Mathis of Chandler, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Eugene Carter of Leslie, Arkansas.
Services will be held on Tuesday, June 18, at 2 p.m. at Kuykendall Cemetery in Oxley, Arkansas, with Pastor Chris Reade of First Baptist Leslie officiating.
