Donald C. “Don” Daniel passed away Nov. 5, 2019 at his home in Franklin.
Mr. Daniel was born March 11, 1933 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and at the age of 10, his family moved to Merced, California where he grew up. He talked often about having a great childhood and enjoyed a simple life in “small-town U.S.A.”
Don excelled in high school and was part of an All-Northern California High School Football Championship game. He was quite proud of that.
After attending Fresno State College — now Fresno State University — for two years, he entered the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Once again, he found himself back in Oklahoma at Fort Sill.
During his service, he married his high school sweetheart, Treva “Earlene” Bernard. They enjoyed 65 years together and had two children, Steve of Holiday, Florida and Susan Sanders of Brentwood. Don and Earlene also had seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
After his discharge from the Army, Don returned with his family to Merced and eventually to Sacramento, California where he spent his career (29 years) in financial services.
The highlight of his life was his family. He never missed an opportunity to express his love to each member equally. Never meeting a stranger, he made others feel good about themselves and encouraged each to live well. Always giving glory to God and his Savior Jesus was common conversation and the example he lead personally. He will be forever loved and missed.
