Jesse Florence “Florrie” Dickenson, 82, passed away July 9, 2019 after a long illness.
Mrs. Dickenson earned her Bachelor's of Science in education from the University of Georgia, then a Master's of Arts in education from Western Carolina Teacher’s College.
During her long career, Florrie taught for the Dept. of Defense in Germany, in California public schools and retired as a reading recovery specialist for Williamson County Schools in 2010.
Her favorite pastimes were music, traveling (beaches were her favorite), reading and needlepoint.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maj. (Ret) Glenn G. Dickenson Jr.; son, John P. Dickenson; and parents, J.C. and Marie Patrick of Waynesville, North Carolina.
Her survivors include daughter, Dawn Dickenson Arnold (Paul) of Franklin; sisters-in-law, Sue Swensson (Earl) of Franklin and Evelyn Swensson of Hockesin, Delaware; and many nieces and nephews scattered throughout the U.S.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Williamson County Schools, the Williamson County Library or the Holston Conference Children’s Home.
