Raymond Marcial Cruz, 19, passed away on Aug. 31, 2019 following a three-year battle with Ewing’s Like Sarcoma Cancer.
Ray was born in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 30, 2000 to parents Blandina Vergara-Cruz and Raymond Antonio Cruz. He was a son and a brother, a singer, musician and man of God. He was a constant bright light to those that knew him.
He proudly served his community by always doing his very best to help others and to share his story, in hopes to make a difference in the world. One thing Ray always shared was, “You can’t choose what happens to you, but you can choose how to respond.”
After Ray was diagnosed with bone cancer in January of 2017, he rarely lost his spirit. Even when being re-diagnosed a third time, he continued to keep his positive spirit, strong faith and giving heart.
Ray’s memory will forever be cherished by his parents, Blandina and Raymond; his brother, Ryan; sisters, Kasondra and Riley; and grandmothers, Alma and Ricarda, as well as many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
The family will receive friends for a visitation from 4-8 p.m. on Sept. 6, 2019 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. Ray’s celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019 at Grace Chapel Church in Leiper’s Fork, and following that will be a memorial service at Williamson Memorial. Then, a reception from 6-8 p.m. will be held at Grace Chapel. All are welcome.
