Joe Jones, obituary
Joe Turner Jones, 89 of Franklin, Tenn, died Oct. 3, 2012.
He served his country in the Philippines during World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart Award. Retired after 35 years of service from South Central Bell, he was the owner and founder of Franklin Carpet Company.
Mr. Jones was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Franklin and was a member of the Men’s Chorus for 50 years. He enjoyed buying and restoring antique cars. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Virginia Stokes Jones. Mr. Jones is survived by wife, Erma Lee Needham Jones; son, Gary (Annetta “Suzie”) Jones; daughter, Teresa (Victor) Blackburn; sister, Martha Waller; grandchildren, Clint and Amanda Hassell and Chasity Jones; several great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Rev. Lynn Hill officiating. Interment was in Triune Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jack Wheeler, Dan Fuller, George Jones, Barry Sewell, Nickey Jones, Jay Wheeler, Jim Yates, Jack Vaughn and Dr. Lance Needham. Honorary pallbearers were the Horace Edgmon Sunday School Class.
Arrangements are by Williamson Memorial Funeral Home in Franklin.
