James ‘Jim’ Jones, obituary
James Earl Jones, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 at his home in Brentwood, Tenn. surrounded by his family.
He was born Sept. 19, 1944 to John Allen and Willa Conoly Jones in Lumber Bridge, NC. He graduated from Hoke County High School.
Mr. Jones served in the Navy during Vietnam before attending East Carolina University. He was a long-time resident of Brentwood, where he was a successful businessman, avid volunteer and devoted husband and father.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of more than 40 years, Carol; sons, Christopher Neal Jones of Nashville, Tenn. and Michael Reed (Kristine) Jones of Pasadena, Calif.; daughters, Kelly Anne Jones of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Kimberly Lynn Jones of Brentwood, Tenn.; granddaughter, Elena Arevik Jones; brother, Whiteford and William Jones; sister, Catherine McNiell and sister-in-law, Barbara Jones all of North Carolina, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jesse and Robert Jones and sisters, Anne Oliver and Mary Cobb.
A celebration of life was held Dec. 9 at Williamson Memorial, David Kidd officiating. An additional memorial will be held at Sandy Grove United Methodist Church in Lumber Bridge, NC at a date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Operation Stand Down: Nashville.
Arrangements are by Williamson Memorial Funeral Home in Franklin.
