To the editor,
I read Thomas Jordan’s hate-filled letter (“Now is ideal time for Franklin High to drop Rebel nickname,” Oct. 31) about eradicating all things related to the Confederacy. And I must say, it seems he has missed the message of inclusion and tolerance along with the pledge of not tearing anything down that we have been told comes with the implementation of Fuller Story in Franklin.
For those of us who still revere our Southern roots, traditions and symbols, is this to be our reward for supporting the Fuller Story? More suggestions and actions to destroy our unique local history based on political correctness rather than the wishes of the majority?
I sure hope the Fuller Story does not turn out to be the proverbial trojan horse in historic Franklin that will lead to the changes as Jordan suggests and even more destruction in the future.
