To the editor:
Have Sen. Lamar Alexander and Sen. Marsha Blackburn seen the latest Fox News poll on gun reform? Per the Fox poll, 90% were in favor of expanded universal background checks for all gun purchases, 81% were in favor of red flag laws and 67% were in favor of banning assault weapons.
Whether the senators choose to believe it or not, the overwhelming majority of citizens want gun legislation. We have had enough! Enough of the mass shootings. Enough of the accidental shootings, of children getting their hands on unsecured firearms. Enough of the suicides by gun. Enough of elected officials’ excuses. Enough of the NRA influence. Enough of Alexander’s and Blackburn’s thoughts and prayers.
It is past time to act. I urge the senators to do their job! Demand that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell bring the background bill that the House passed in February up for a vote and then vote to pass it. Remember, the NRA does not represent the majority of Americans.
Alexander and Blackburn will be held accountable for their inaction on gun reform. What is it going to take for them to listen to the majority of Americans? We have had enough!
