Letter to the Editor: We must love people more than we love guns

To the editor,

First El Paso and then Dayton. The Texas governor says, “We need to focus on memorials and not politics.”

For all those sending thoughts and prayers, did you ever think that your prayers are being answered by a very loud call telling us to change our politics? To change our priorities from loving guns to loving people?

Pray all you want, but this preacher is telling you that these killings and these weapons and the hate erupting in our country is not what the Lord calls us to be.

Pray for the victims, but then take a minute for God to speak to your soul. And for God’s sake, for the sake of loving our neighbors, listen. Lord, forgive us all.

I demand everyone forget their politics and remember what they have been called to do.
