Kathy Kroeger, a 2009 Independence graduate, is the first inductee into the Independence High School Athletic Hall of Fame for 2015. Kroeger was inducted Sunday night at the Embassy Suites in Cool Springs during the IABC Senior Athletic Banquet. She was a four-time Class AAA state cross country champion with the Eagles. Kroeger won the Class AAA 1,600-meter run, twice, as well as the 3,200-meter run, twice, where she holds the state record in 10 minutes, 26.28 seconds. She was also the 2006 Foot Locker Cross Country National Champion and the 2008 Wendy’s High School Heisman National winner as well as other accolades. Kroeger attended Stanford University and graduated last year. She was a two-time cross country All-American and three-time outdoor track All-American as well as a six-time indoor track All-American.
