Championship Football: Ravenwood, Summit, CPA represent WillCo in state finals

BlueCross Bowl Football Championships

The Williamson Herald sports team will be following three area high school football teams this week in Cookeville.

Beginning Thursday with the Division II-AA championship, the Herald will feature Christ Presbyterian Academy. On Friday, Summit will play for the Class 5A championship with Ravenwood closing out the three days of championship football Saturday night in the Class 6A finals.

CPA, which beat Lipscomb Academy 24-7 last week in the DII-AA state semifinals, will face Evangelical Christian School in the Lions second consecutive championship appearance on Thursday at 3 p.m. ECS defeated Battle Ground Academy 13-9 in the quarterfinals.

Summit will play for the school’s first state championship at 7 p.m. Friday night. The Spartans defeated Dyer County 27-20 in a gritty performance in the semifinals in Spring Hill. Summit will play Knoxville Central, 10-0 winners over Knoxville West in the other semifinal.

On Saturday, Ravenwood makes its fifth trip to the BlueCross Bowl championship game in the school’s 17 years.

The Raptors doubled up Houston 42-21 Friday in the state semifinals and will battle Maryville for the Class 6A championship Saturday night at 7 p.m. The two teams met in back-to-back title games in 2014 and 2015 with the Raptors winning the latter.

3 p.m. – Christ Presbyterian Academy vs. Evangelical Christian School, Division II-AA championship

7 p.m. – McCallie vs. Montgomery Bell Academy, Division II-AAA championship

Friday

11 a.m. – Greenback vs. Lake County, Class 1A championship

3 p.m. – Alcoa vs. Pearl Cohn, Class 3A championship

7 p.m. – Knoxville Central vs. Summit, Class 5A championship

Saturday

11 a.m. – Meigs County vs Peabody, Class 2A championship

3 p.m. – Elizabethton vs. Springfield, Class 4A championship

7 p.m. – Maryville vs. Ravenwood, Class 6A championship
