A trio of Lady Bruin runners finished in the top of six at the 20th annual Chickasaw Trails Invitational in Oakville, Alabama to give the Brentwood girls cross country team the overall team title on Saturday.
Freshman Brooke Tyll finished second overall in 19 minutes, 5.91 seconds to lead the Lady Bruins. Teammates Kaitlyn Vanderkolk (19:25.76) closed in fifth and Eden Mittelsdorf (19:26.61) was sixth. Brentwood ran a 19:53 average with the top Lady Bruins all finishing in the top 25 overall.
Homewood, Alabama senior Lainey Phelps was the overall winner in 18:40.68, while Alabama’s Mountain Brook finished second in the team standings.
Senior Julia Foote (19:56.83) of Franklin was the next Williamson County finisher in ninth, while Bronwyn Harris (22nd in 20:40.51) was the next Lady Bruin. Brentwood’s Cari Pautienus (20:48.35) rounded out the top 25 runners.
The Lady Rebels closed in eighth in the team standings with 33 schools represented at the meet on the girls' side.
In the boys’ race, Brentwood’s Kevin Vanderkolk finished 13th overall in a field of more than 300 with a time of 16:20.11, edging Gabe Scales of Huntsville, Alabama by .06 seconds. Fellow Bruin Brody Chapman was 16th in 16:25.79.
Three Franklin runners – Evan Guzman (19th in 16:32.68), Isaac Chapman (23rd in 16:44.84) and Graham Ferguson (24th in 16:44.84) – also added top 25 runs. The Rebels ran a 16:55 average and took third in the team standings. Brentwood was fifth.
Nolensville freshman Auldyn Plant won the Bluegrass Invitational in Lexington, Kentucky Saturday. Plant led the Lady Knights to a second-place finish in the team standings and ran a personal-best 19:09.40. Three other Nolensville runners finished in the top 25.
Senior Parker Phegley led the Knights in the boys’ race (13th in 16:56.79).
In Hendersonville, Page senior Jacob Cucullu (16:37.89) was third at the Coleman Midgett Invitational, while in the girls’ race, Lady Patriots Annalee Neeley (20:43.21) finished ninth and Amanda Laboy (20:46.71) was 10th.
Fairview hosted a meet Saturday as well. Lady Yellow Jacket runner Alyssa Andrea, a freshman, won the girls’ race in 20:08. Junior Ryan Keeton (3rd in 17:35) was the top Fairview boys’ runner.
