Hoops: Brentwood boys slip past Overton, Lady Bruins cruise behind Osgood's 31

The Brentwood basketball teams posted a pair of wins at Overton High School on Monday night.

The school will be hosting the Region 6-AAA tournament beginning Feb. 28.

Brentwood boys 58, Overton 55

Evan Drennan scored nine of his 21 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Bruins past the Bobcats in a tight contest.

The game was tied 13-13 after one, Brentwood led 33-31 at the half and 46-44 to open the fourth as neither team gained much separation.

John Windley and Jake Brock each added nine points in the win.

Donovan Bender tallied 17, Derek Murphy had a dozen and Chris Price hit for 10 to lead Overton.

Brentwood returns to action Thursday at home against Dickson County in a District 11-AAA play.

Brentwood girls 76, Overton 11

Amelia Osgood poured in 31 points and added six assists and five steals to lead the Lady Bruins to a lopsided victory Monday night in Nashville.

Brentwood scored the first 38 points and led 53-5 at the half. The Lady Bruins also opened the second half on a 21-0 run through the third.

Emily Trushel added 12 points, seven steals and five assists, while twin sister Delaney Trushel collected 10 points and eight rebounds and Ellie Meadows tacked on six points and six boards.
