Hoops: FRA sweeps BGA; Indy splits with Brentwood; Summit, BA girls collect wins

Hoops – Franklin Road Academy at Battle Ground Academy

Despite overcoming a nine-point halftime deficit, the Battle Ground Academy boys basketball team fell short of Franklin Road Academy at home in Franklin on Friday.

FRA posted a narrow 53-50 road win.

Levi Cox scored 12 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Panthers to victory after BGA narrowed a 26-17 halftime cushion to a slim 34-33 edge to open the fourth. RJ Casey added 10 points for FRA and Eli Warrix connected on all five of his free throws in the final frame.

Sean Williams scored 19 points to lead the Wildcats, while Kevin Jones added 18.

FRA came away with a sweep earning a 46-39 win in the early girls game as well.

Spring Hill girls 58, Franklin 50

The Lady Raiders overcame a third=-quarter surge from Franklin to post a District 11-AAA win Friday in Spring Hill.

Sierra Steadman scored 24 points to lead Spring Hill, which connected on 13-of-18 free throws in the fourth quarter to stay in front.

Steadman poured in 16 points in the first quarter as Spring Hill jumped out to a 21-10 lead early and a 39-23 halftime advantage.

Kate O’Neil finished with 28 points and 11 rebounds for Franklin. She scored 10 points in the third as the Lady Admiral went on a 21-8 run to pull within a bucket to start the fourth quarter. Lyla Gardner added nine points and five assists for Franklin.

Independence boys 68, Brentwood 64

Jett Montgomery scored 22 points and connected on all nine of his free throws in the fourth quarter as Independence surged to a District 11-AAA win at home Friday.

Brentwood, which received a game-high 31 form John Windley, led 43-41 to open the fourth before the home team exploded for 27 in the final eight minutes.

Tyus Anderson added 19 points and River Katina tossed in nine points for Indy.

Brentwood trailed 30-23 at the half, but pulled in front by a bucket after strong third quarter. Griffin Burke added 14 points and Jake Brock chipped in eight.

Summit girls 66, Dickson County 44

Delaney Noe scored 18 points, including four 3-pointers, and the Summit girls opened up an early lead to collect a District 11-AAA road win Friday.

The Lady Spartans led by eight after first quarter and managed a 38-19 lead to open the second half.

Ellie Colson added eight points and 12 rebounds in the win, while Claudette Runk hit for 10 points and Jaidyn Ramzy netted nine.

Anna Claire Milam scored 20. Points to pace the home-standing Lady Cougars.

Brentwood girls 77, Independence 29

Sydney Ryan dropped in 32 points and had 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Bruins to a District 11-AAA win in Thompson’s Station Friday.

Amelia Osgood added 17 points, eight assists and four steals for Brentwood, while five other Lady Bruins netted at least four points.

Ryan anchored a smothering defense as well, collecting seven steals on the night.

Brentwood Academy girls 57, Lipscomb Academy 43

Jaila Lee scored 19 points, Millie Brown added 17 and the Lady Eagles bounced back from a setback at home earlier in the week.

Brentwood Academy allowed just 14 first-half points to open up an early lead. Brown finished with five 3-pointers in the victory, while Trinity Fields added 10 points.

Abby Smith led Lipscomb Academy with 14 points.
