Hoops: Franklin, Page sweep Tuesday on the hardwood

Noah Magee poured in a career-high 32 points and the Franklin High School boys basketball team closed out the Middle Tennessee Invitational tournament in Franklin with a 81-48 rout of Clarksville Northeast Tuesday night.

Magee sank six of his eight 3-pointers in the first quarter as Franklin blasted out of the gate to a 26-12 lead after the opening eight minutes.

Tom Fortner added 14 points and Davis Long hit for 10 more for Franklin, which bounced back from a narrow 63-58 loss to Ravenwood on Monday.

Franklin returns to action after the holiday Tuesday at Nolensville.

Northeast girls 39, Franklin 36

Clarksville Northeast edged Franklin Tuesday in a tight contest in the MTIC tournament at Franklin.

Kristine Mitchell and Cierra Bowser each scored 10 points to lead Northeast, which used a 16-8 run in the third quarter to gain an edge.

Jean Costello scored 14 points to lead Franklin, while Lyla Gardner added eight points and four rebounds and Charlotte Robinson tallied four points, seven boards and three assists.

Page boys 56, Dickson County 36

Pierce Bruehl scored 15 points to lead three Patriots in double figures as Page opened up at home with a victory Tuesday over Dickson County.

Andrew Cucullu added 13 points and Grant Snider contributed a dozen for Page, which doubled-up the Cougars 28-14 by halftime.

Isaiah Derden scored 10 points to lead Dickson County.

Page (1-3) fell on Monday 59-49 against Shelbyville Central despite 18 points from Bruehl.

Page girls 72, Dickson County 40

The Lady Patriots rolled to a win Tuesday at home over Dickson County.

McKenzie Cochran knocked down three 3-pointers and scored a game-high 24 points for Page, while Lili Wilken collected 17 points and six steals in the win.

Page, which plays Friday against Oakland, raced to a 53-15 lead by halftime. The Lady Patriots were coming off a 50-41 win over Coffee County in a game where Wilken and Cochran combined for 38 points.

Summit girls 53, Lavergne 16

Quinn Johnston hit three triples and paced a balanced Lady Spartans offense with 14 points Tuesday.

Summit surged early, scoring 19 of the first 21 points.

Bergen Allee added 12 points in the win, while both Cydney Wright and Claudette Runk netted seven apiece.

The Lady Spartans edged Harpeth Hall 50-49 on Monday behind Runk’s game-high 17.
