Hoops: GCA picks up home sweep of Santa Fe

The Grace Christian Academy basketball teams both picked up wins on Monday night at home near Leiper’s Fork.

The Lady Lions earned a 64-40 win against Santa Fe and GCA boys claimed an 80-72 victory.

Anna Smith led the way for the GCA girls with 18 points, while Raychel Calvert netted 14. Carli Mason added nine points and Charlie Black pitched in eight.

Laci Warf paced Santa Fe with 22 points.

The GCA boys (1-2) surged in front in the third quarter with a 26-10 run to break a 30-30 tie and earn their first win.

Mason McKnatt dropped in 28 points to lead the way, while Will Beasley (12) and Jordan Carter (10) also reached double figures. Ashton Kelley and Grant Solomon each added nine points in the win.

Santa Fe ignited for 32 points over the final eight minutes, but GCA stayed in front. Jeremy Dotson and Andy Slaughter each scored 25 for the visitors.

GCA returns to action in Franklin with a visit to Centennial on Dec. 2 before opening conference play by hosting Battle Ground Academy on Dec. 6.
