Hoops Roundup: GCA, BGA split home district contests

Hoops – Battle Ground Academy boys vs. Webb

Anna Smith and Raychel Calvert led a balanced attack and Grace Christian Academy picked up a Division II-A Middle Region District 3 victory Monday at home near Leiper’s Fork.

Smith scored 12 points and Calvert added 10. Carlie Mason (8), Audrey Sanders (7) and Charlie Black (6) also were key contributors for GCA.

Lauren Vann netted a game-best 21 to lead Webb.

Webb School boys 83, Grace Christian Academy 58

Jordan Jenkins scored 23 points and visiting Webb doubled-up GCA early en route to a district road win.

Five other Webb players scored at least seven points and combined for 12 3-pointers. GCA trailed 24-12 at the end of the first and Webb continued to stay hot building a 50-28 advantage by the half.

Jordan Carter scored 21 points and Grant Solomon added 12 for the Lions. Both hit three 3-pointers to lead GCA.

The Lions will host Zion Christian on Tuesday night at home.

Providence Christian Academy girls 51, Battle Ground Academy 47 

The Lady Lions of Murfreesboro handed BGA its second tight Division II-A Middle Region District 3 loss in a row Monday night in Franklin.

PCA opened up an early 17-9 lead and kept the Lady Wildcats at arm’s length the rest of the way. BGA was coming off a 65-61 setback at Franklin Road Academy.

Graci Semptimphelter scored 15 points – including four 3-pointers – to lead the Lady Wildcats, while Kearstyn Seay (11) and Lindsey Summarell (10) also reached double figures.

Both AC Markham and Abby McFarland each scored 15 to lead PCA.

Battle Ground Academy boys 57, Providence Christian Academy 19

Garnett Hollis Jr. scored 15 points, Nick Semptimphelter knocked down four 3s for 12 and host BGA cruised to a district win at home.

Both Hollis Jr. and Semptimphelter did most of their damage in the first half as the Wildcats opened a 34-9 advantage. Calvin Quehl added eight points as 10 BGA players reached the scorebook.

Erin McFarland scored six points to lead PCA.

BGA stays at home this week to face Middle Tennessee Christian in a double-header on Thursday.
