The Hot Shots of Tennessee jump rope team, based in Franklin, brought home some serious hardware from the American Jump Rope Federation National Championship held in Raleigh from June 21-23.

The team’s 15 competitors brought home a total of 35 medals, and 15 of the Hot Shots’ freestyle routines and speed performances qualified to advance to the Grand National Championship on the final day of competition.

To qualify for Grand Nationals in a freestyle event, jumpers’ scores must be in the top 10 overall scores, regardless of age division; in a speed event, jumpers’ scores must be in the top six overall scores, regardless of age.

Six of the Hot Shots will compete at the 2019 World Jump Rope Championship in Oslofjord, Norway, from July 4-8.

Members of the 2019 Hot Shots competition team attend Hunters Bend Elementary School, Grassland Middle School, Spring Station Middle School, Franklin High School and the University of Central Florida. The Hot Shots are coached by Lisa Arnold.

Members of the team have previously earned gold medals at the World Jump Rope Championship, appeared on the nationally syndicated “Pickler & Ben” television show and represented the sport of jump rope at The Arnold Sports Festival USA, also known as the Arnold Schwarzenegger Sports Festival.
