Brentwood scored twice early, turned away several Franklin attempts late and tallied an insurance goal in the final minutes to claim a 3-1 District 12-AAA win on the Lady Rebels home field on Wednesday.

Brentwood took advantage of Franklin missing starting goalkeeper Jean Costello and struck first in the 20th minute when Haley Hannah found the back of the net. Hayley Howard added a tally in the 32nd for the 2-0 lead that held until early in the second half.

The home-standing Lady Rebels scored when Ava Weimer netted a goal in the 49th. Franklin earned a penalty kick, but Brentwood keeper Kate Devine made a crucial save and stopped Weimer’s attempt to preserve the 2-1 lead in the 74th.

Morgan Greene sealed the match in the 76th with a tally for the Lady Bruins.

Brentwood impoved to 5-0 overall heading into next week’s Battle of the Woods when Ravenwood stops by. Franklin is 3-2-2 and faces Centennial next. Both matches are scheduled for Tuesday.
