Soccer: Franklin, Indy advance to 12-AAA semis; Miniat leads Fairview into semis

Soccer – Centennial at Franklin, District 12-AAA Tournament

Eliza Paisley and Margaret DeFranco each scored twice and the Franklin Lady Rebels advanced to the District 12-AAA tournament semifinals with a 6-0 shutout of crosstown foe Centennial Monday.

Paisley and DeFranco alternated goals for the first four goals with Paisley opening the scoring on the first of two assists from Brenna Swiger. DeFranco followed with another tally on an assist from Emma Shields, Megan wroblewski found Paisley for a third goal and Shields fed DeFranco for the 4-0 advantage.

Swiger and Wroblewski both added goals in the win.

Franklin will face Brentwood in the district semifinals at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Independence in an elimination game. Ravenwood and Independence will play in the other semi afterward.

Independence advanced with a 1-0 win against Summit in the other quarterfinal.

In other soccer action Tuesday, third-seeded Fairview raced past Kenwood 8-0 in the District 12-AA quarterfinals. The Lady Yellow Jackets will travel to Sycamore to face Cheatham County in the semifinals at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Hannah Miniat netted a hat trick for Fairview, while LilyAnn McElroy scored twice. Abbey Vance added two assists in the win and Lauren Terry, Katie Welker and Moriah Hutchison also added tallies.

Carly Wagner earned the shutout in goal with two saves.

The Lady Cubs won 3-1 in the regular season on Sept. 10 in Cheatham County.
