Soccer Roundup: Brentwood scores late to force draw; BGA, Fairview and GCA cruise

The Brentwood High School girls soccer team needed a late rally and found it Tuesday in a non-conference matchup against visiting Father Ryan.

The Lady Irish staked an early 2-0 lead on a pair of goals form Grace Feltner and that lead stayed into the final 10 minutes before Brentwood struck twice to force a 2-2 draw.

The Lady Bruins first tally came right at the 70th minute on an Emma Pizzi goal. Brentwood’s Emma Majors converted the equalizer in the 75th to force the tie.

The Lady Bruins host Centennial in a District 11-AAA showdown Thursday. The Lady Cougars posted a 2-0 win at Gallatin on Tuesday.

BGA 3, Providence Christian Academy 0

The Lady Wildcats soccer team came away with a shutout win in a DII-A Middle Region District 3 meeting Tuesday.

Eva Schreiber opened the scoring in the 31st after swiping the ball and taking it all the way for the tally for BGA. Eva’s sister Cat Schreiber added a goal in the 52nd in a similar situation, stealing the ball and turning it into a 2-0 Lady Wildcats lead.

The sisters connected on the final tally in the 67th when Eva lofted a ball into Cat’s run for the 3-0 final.

Kennedy Price and Lindsey Summarell anchored the defensive line for BGA, while Laurel Phelps stopped two shots to secure the shutout against PCA, which was previously unbeaten in league play.

BGA was coming off a 9-0 win over Bell Buckle Monday and hosts a third district match this week on Thursday against Middle Tennessee Christian School.

Fairview 6, Montgomery Central 0

Hannah Miniat scored three goals and assisted on another as the Lady Yellow Jackets raced to a District 12-AA win Tuesday.

Lauren Terry added a pair of goals and an assist as well, while Jackie Reding also scored. LilyAnn McElroy stopped nine shots to secure the shutout and also assisted on a goal for Fairview, which has outscored its last three opponents 14-0.

Fairview improved to 5-3-1 overall and 2-0 in district play heading into a league trek to Sycamore on Thursday.

Grace Christian Academy 6, Franklin Road Academy 0

Mary Bradley Myers netted a hat trick for the home-standing Lady Lions, who picked up a DII-A Middle Region victory Tuesday.

Anna Cate Beachum tacked on two goals and an assist in the win, while Ella Kate Gill also fired in a goal. Caroline Briley and Katie Dial were both credited with two assists for GCA.
