Battle Ground Academy and The King’s Academy will play a decisive Game 3 Thursday in the best-of-three Division II-A quarterfinal series in Seymour.

The Lady Wildcats can earn a state semifinal berth with one more road win against TKA. BGA tipped the Lady Lions 7-1 in eight innings in the first game of a doubleheader Wednesday, but fell 10-5 in Game 2.

Thursday’s rubber match is scheduled for a noon start.

In the first game, BGA and TKA were tied at 1-1 to open the eighth where the Lady Wildcats ignited for six runs in the top of the frame on six hits and two walks.

Piper Dambach triggered the onslaught with a RBI-single. Alex Paregis, Beth Fleming, Amanda Vinzant and Paige Shea all drove in runs in the eighth as well. Paregis opened the scoring for BGA in the second with a solo homer and was one of four Lady Wildcats with multiple hits.

Jordan Warzynski went the distance on the mount, surrendering four hits over eight innings with 11 strikeouts.

Kaylan Cole was the difference in Game 2 for the Lady Lions. She launched a three-run homer in the fourth inning to give TKA and 8-5 lead and also retired 11 of 16 batters faced.

Maddie Webber and Blayne King each added runs to provide the final score.

Paregis notched a two-run double in the third to tie the game at 5-5.

The Lady Wildcats reached the quarterfinal series with a 10-4 win at University School of Jackson on Monday after a fourth-place finish in the Middle Region.
