Softball: Page, Ravenwood go 1-1 at Brentwood Invite; Nolensville wins two

Softball – Page vs. White House Heritage

Shelby Buffington allowed just one hit over four innings and Josey Polk led the Page High School softball team at the plate on Friday at Nolensville High School during the Brentwood Invitational. 

Buffington, who also drove in a run, struck out four with 31 of her 45 pitches going for strikes. Polk went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, while Kaylie Adcock added a two-run double in the top of the fourth as Page scored the first five runs. 

Adkisson and Morgan Brannan also notched RBIs for the Lady Patriots. 

Page fell in the nightcap 7-2 against Smyrna, which played five runs in the bottom of the second to take control. Adcock drove in a run and Morgan Riley had a double in the loss. 

Page faces Nolensville Saturday morning and caps the tournament with a contest against Summertown at 3 p.m. 

Ravenwood 6, Goodpasture 1 

The Lady Raptors scored four runs in the bottom of the second to take an early lead and pick up a win in the opener for Ravenwood in the Brentwood Invitational. 

Both Avery Wissmar and Linley Pittman drove in two runs apiece for the Lady Raptors, while Ella Sasser added a double. Wissmar struck out three in four innings of work, allowing two hits and one earned with no walks. 

The Lady Raptors fell 4-2 in their second game against Stewarts Creek. 

Lexi Erickson and Avery Wissmar both collected two hits for Ravenwood, which out-hit Stewarts Creek 8-4, but stranded six on base. Both Wissmar and Taylor Webb had RBIs for the Lady Raptors. 

Ravenwood faces Wilson Central Saturday morning and closes the tournament against Blackman in the afternoon at Brentwood. 

Nolensville 6, Lexington 5 

Avery Patton drove in the game-winner in the bottom of the fourth and paced the Lady Knights on the mound in the second game of the day for Nolensville during the Brentwood Invitational. 

Patton scattered six hits, but struck out five with two walks on the mound. Her RBI-single with two outs provided the go-ahead run. Lauren Ryan added an RBI-triple, while both Emily Gable and Rylan Smith tallied doubles. 

The Lady Knights opened the tournament with a 2-1 win over Summertown, scoring both runs in the top of the fifth on a Mackenzie Heim two-run single. Patton added the other hit in the pitcher’s duel that featured a combined 17 strikeouts. 

Smith struck out six and allowed just one hit with no earned for Nolensville. 

The Lady Knights face Page and Smyrna Saturday at Nolensville.
