Volleyball: BGA to play for district title; Page rallies past Ravenwood; Lady Bruins blitz Indy

The BGA volleyball team 

The Battle Ground Academy volleyball team will be competing for a district championship for a fourth consecutive year on Thursday.

The Lady Wildcats posted a 25-14, 25-10, 25-19 win Tuesday against Middle Tennessee Christian in the Division II-A District 3 Tournament semifinals at Columbia Academy. BGA, the No. 2 seed, will face top-seeded Franklin Road Academy Thursday for the district title and two decide the top seed for the upcoming regional tournament.

Hana Robertson and Kearstyn Seay each recorded eight kills to lead the Lady Wildcats Tuesday. Seay added two blocks and two aces, while Ally Newkirk and Campbell Dobbs combined for 28 assists to guide the offense.

BGA swept Providence Christian Academy 25-20, 25-22, 25-17 in the district quarterfinals on Monday. Robertson had six kills and seven aces in that contest.

In the last meeting with FRA, the Lady Wildcats fell 25-15, 20-25, 25-27, 21-25 on Sept. 17. At the end of August, the Lady Panthers prevailed in a five-set match as well.

FRA tipped Grace Christian Academy 3-1 to advance to the championship match. GCA will face Middle Tennessee Christian for third place Thursday.

Page def. Ravenwood, 3-2

The Lady Patriots rallied to win three straight against Ravenwood in a District 12-AAA battle Tuesday. Page fell 26-24, 25-22 in the first two games, but regrouped to win the match by taking the next three 25-22, 27-25, 16-14.

Amanda Webb poured in 23 kills, 10 digs and three aces to lead Page, while Ashley Hatchette collected 14 kills. Grace Carlisle registered 24 digs and Kayla Whitehead added six blocks for the Lady Patriots defense.

Page senior Anna Mayer produced a huge double-double with 44 assists and 20 digs.

Madison Bidwell led the Lady Raptors with 16 kills and 18 digs. Kelsie Dawson added nine kills and eight blocks and Tanya Sichling closed with nine kills and 16 digs. Bella LePore anchored the Ravenwood defense with 29 digs and setters Carly Cooper (21 assists, 10 digs) and Madison Willhoit (21 assists, 12 digs) both finished with double-doubles.

Both teams moved to 7-4 in district play. Page closes out the regular season at home against Centennial Thursday, while Ravenwood faces Summit.

Results weren't available from Summit's loss at Centennial, but with a loss to the Lady Cougars, the Lady Spartans fell into a three-way tie with Page and Ravenwood for second place in the district. 

Brentwood def. Independence, 3-0

The Lady Bruins blasted past Indy 25-11, 25-3, 25-9 Tuesday to improve to 11-0 in District 12-AAA play.

Shaye Eggleston collected 18 kills on .552 hitting with two blocks to lead Brentwood. Piper Drazek added 37 assists and seven digs to go with four aces. Haley Sanders served five aces and had seven digs, while Mary Oldham added eight kills for Brentwood.

The Lady Bruins wrap up regular season play against Franklin Thursday at home.
