Volleyball: Nolensville cruises to region title, hosts sectional Thursday

The Nolensville High School volleyball team captured the Region 5-AA championship on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020 in Nolensville. 

NOLENSVILLE – The defending Class AA volleyball champions, the Nolensville girls, continued their postseason push Tuesday by claiming another Region 5-AA crown.

The Lady Knights blasted East Nashville 25-5, 25-3, 25-7 in the region semifinals and then claimed a 25-10, 25-19, 25-16 victory against Murfreesboro Central Magnet in the region championship.

Charley Fulton led Nolensville with 11 kills in the final, while Avery Young and Jazmyn Jenkins each added seven kills.

Fulton was named the region MVP and was joined on the All-Region 5-AA team by teammates Jenkins, Caymin Ladd, Avery Patton and Lauren Starcke.

Murfreesboro Central reached the final by topping Martin Luther King in the straight sets in the semis.

Nolensville will host a Class AA Sectional contest against Camden Thursday at 7 p.m. for a state berth. Murfreesboro Central heads to Macon County, the District 11-AA runner-up and Region 6-AA champ.
