Volleyball – Nolensville vs. Brentwood, 11-AAA Championship

Both the Nolensville and Ravenwood High School volleyball teams will represent Williamson County at the Class AAA state tournament next week in Murfreesboro.

The Lady Knights swept past Hillsboro at home Thursday, while the Lady Raptors won on the road at Station Camp in four sets in the sectional round.

The state tournament begins Tuesday in Murfreesboro. Both Nolensville and Ravenwood will play at Blackman High School in the double-elimination tournament, which concludes with a championship match at Siegel High School.

Other state qualifiers in Class AAA include Siegel, Hardin Valley, Houston, Collierville, Cleveland and Maryville.

The Lady Knights advanced to the state tournament in their first year playing in Class AAA by sweeping past the Lady Burros 25-15, 25-12, 25-19.

Maymie Guthrie added 15 digs and Ellie Tant set 18 assists in the win. The Lady Knights improved to 38-3 overall and continued to push through the postseason after clinching the District 11-AAA championship and Region 6-AAA title recently.

Hillsboro clinched the District 10-AAA title last week and tipped Portland in the regional semifinals before falling to Station Camp in the Region 5-AAA championship Tuesday.

Ravenwood def. Station Camp, 3-1

The Lady Raptors claimed a 25-17, 25-22, 26-28, 25-14 win in Gallatin Thursday night in the sectional round.

Station Camp had clinched the District 9-AAA title and stopped Hillsboro in straight sets for Tuesday for the region title.

Ravenwood returns to the state tournament after missing the big stage last season. The Lady Raptors are making their 10th state appearance.
