The Page Lady Patriots basketball team defeated Centennial 41-25 Monday night in Cool Springs, bettering Page’s season record to 3-2 on the young season.
Page’s tenacious full-court trap helped the team to an early advantage as the visitors jumped to a 12-0 advantage through the game’s first three minutes. Centennial’s Delani Distefano scored the Lady Cougars’ first basket at the 4:53 mark of the opening quarter, sinking a 3-point shot while being fouled. The subsequent free throw was no good.
Centennial (1-4) got the score to 15-7 with 3:15 remaining in the quarter before Page’s bench players clamped down on defense. The Lady Cougars struggled, going scoreless for 13 minutes and 57 seconds while Page went on a 20-0 run before a made free throw broke the drought with 4:10 in the third quarter.
Bria White led Page with 13 points while point guard Allison Wiley added nine – all of which came in the first quarter.
Distefano was Centennial’s leading scorer with 10 points – five in the first quarter and five in the fourth.
Centennial’s boys team defeated Page 79-41, led by a game-high 28 points from senior Matt Pond.
Tied 4-4 at the 3:20 mark of the opening quarter, the Cougars went on a 10-1 run to close the period.
Page (1-3) would close the gap to 22-18 four minutes into the second quarter on a pair of Hunter Bennefield free throws before Centennial went on another run – this one a 13-0 streak that lasted until the final minute of the half. Featured in the stretch were three consecutive fast break layups by Joseph Reffegee.
Centennial (4-2) continued the pressure in the second half as Pond scored 12 third-quarter points while Cougar defense thrived – allowing only nine points in both the third and fourth quarters.
Bennefield led Page with 15 points with Donte DeSalle adding five.

The Cougars outscored Glencliff 35-15 in the second and third quarters and distributed their offense evenly throughout the contest. Senior Matt Pond was the team’s leading scorer with nine points while JaNique Johnson and Jacob Helton each had eight.

Brentwood coasted to a 25-point victory at Station camp as 10 Bruins contributed to the score sheet. Asa Duvall led the way with 14 points and two 3-pointers with Cody Shelton close behind with 12 points.

Tied after three quarters of play, Summit struggled in the final period. The Spartans were outscored 20-5 in the final eight minutes, losing to the District 12-AA foe. Tucker Rippy had a team-high 11 points and two of the team’s eight 3-pointers.
