The Centennial Cougars hockey team defeated Hendersonville 4-3 on Senior Night Jan. 13 at Bridgestone Arena.

Sophomore Devin Pierce proved to be the hero on a night for upperclassmen, notching three goals to earn a hat trick.

Trailing 2-0 in the second period, Pierce and Chris Hare evened the score before the second intermission. Pierce went on to score two goals in the third period to give Centennial a comfortable advantage.

The win solidifies Centennial’s spot atop Greater Nashville Scholastic Hockey’s Gold Division with 27 points – based on a 13-1-1 record. Hendersonville is the classification’s second-ranked squad with 25 points and a 12-2-1 record.

Centennial continues their season Jan. 16 against Brentwood. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:25 p.m. at the A-Game Sportsplex.
