Franklin soccer wins one of two in Knoxville

Franklin High School boys soccer team traveled to Knoxville to take on Hardin Valley Academy and Bearden High School this weekend under coach Mike Burgoyne.

The Rebels ended their fight against Hardin Valley on March 16 in a score of 0-0. Franklin goalkeeper Parker Lamb held the shutout for the team. Drew Collins, Allister Berger, Riley Mease, Ben Norris, Conner Quiggle, Brad Ross, and Jacob Smith all had shots on Hardin Valley's keeper, but could not get it in the net.

Franklin High School was matched against Bearden High School the following day – a rival to Hardin Valley – and defeated them 5-1.

Franklin’s Luke Rogers was first to score for the Rebels, soon followed by Tony Beckham, Berger, and two goals by Smith. Assists went to Chris Winfree, Austin Baker, Evan Forrest, Ross, Collins, and Smith.

Lamb held a shutout in the first half but Bearden was able to sneak one in during the second with goalkeeper Alec Oldham guarding the net.

The Rebels continue their season March 19 against Pope John Paul II at 7 p.m.
