Rebels remain district's top team with win over Brentwood

It was an exciting night on the pitch April 16 as Brentwood hosted rival Franklin in a match up between District 11-AAA’s top two teams. In the end, Franklin widened the gap in the standings with a 2-1 win.

Both teams had great representation from the student bodies, which heightened the excitement in the air. In the first half, Franklin's Matt Brady was the first to light up the scoreboard with an assist from teammate Allister Berger.

Drew Collins, Jacob Smith and Berger both had shots on goal for Franklin but were held off.

Later in the first half, Brentwood's Blake Chidester was successful in putting one in on Franklin’s goalkeeper Parker Lamb, bringing the halftime score to 1-1.

With 10 minutes left in the second half, Franklin's Conner Quiggle was able to score on a penalty. Ben Norris tried repeatedly to score on Brentwood but was not able to.

Outstanding plays were made by Daniel Enciso, John Fly, Brad Ross, Jimmy Wester, Austin Baker and Alex Zadonyanchuk on the Rebels’ defensive side of the field as Brentwood unsuccessfully tried to answer Franklin's last goal.

The win betters Franklin’s record to 6-0-2, 3-0 while Brentwood falls to 5-2-3, 1-1-1.

Franklin's next game is April 18 when the Rebels host Dickson County. The Bruins host Independence the same day.
