Frankin soccer clinches district title

It was an exciting and highly anticipated night April 23 as the Franklin Rebels traveled to Independence and defeated the Eagles 2-0.
Franklin went into the game undefeated and the District 11-AAA title was on the line and clinched with the team’s 7-0-2 record.
Led by coach Mike Burgoyne, the Rebels came out strong but weree held off by Independence's defense line until the last 14 seconds in the first half when Franklin's Drew Collins was able to put one in the net.
After the half, Independence came back on the field with a drive to tie the score. Franklin goalkeeper Parker Lamb had seven saves. In the end, Independence was not able to put one in the net on Lamb.
Daniel Enciso and Jacob Smith both took shots for the Eagles, but were held off.
Allister Berger, Conner Quiggle , Luke Rogers, Brad Ross , Beckham and Chris Winfree all had opportunities for Franklin.
Franklin’s next game is April 25 at home against Battle Ground Academy with FHS welcoming Grassland Middle students to the game. Franklin will host Centennial on April 26 and have a Maroon out for this rival game.
