Summit names Goodwin new girls basketball coach

Summit High School has named Josh Goodwin their new girls basketball coach.
Goodwin, a standout player at Harpeth High School who was a two-time Mr. Basketball finalist, has been both the girls and boys basketball coach at Sycamore High School the past two years.
“A lot of people in the area knew I was trying to get closer to home and closer to family,” he said. “I had a lot of people looking out for me and telling me when jobs were coming open. I was approached about the Summit job and was very interested.”
The move to Summit means he will go head-to-head with a familiar face twice a season as Summit transitions to District 11-AAA next year. His wife, Kari Goodwin, is the current girls head coach at Franklin High School, a future district foe.
When asked, Goodwin could not yet describe what it will be like to coach against his wife.
“It will be interesting,” he said. “I don’t know if we can really sum it up before it happens. It may end up being as much a positive as a negative. Maybe it will help each other out the rest of the year besides those two nights, but those two nights will be a little tense.”
Goodwin, once a player at Belmont University, takes over for Angie Muir who was suspended in January and did not coach the remainder of the season.
