Brentwood runners dominate top event

Brentwood’s cross country team has never shied away from facing the best competition they can find.  So it was not unexpected that the Bruins would be entered in the Trinity High/Valkyrie Invitational event Saturday.

Their domination of one of the top ten events for elite runners in the nation, however, surprised many.

Seniors Alec Thomas, Taylor Caldwell and Aaron Thomas, (Alec’s twin brother) finished 1-2-3 over the 5,000-meter/3.1-mile course.   Alec Thomas’ winning time of 15:05.20 was only 1.5-seconds better Caldwell and his brother’s, who both finished in 16:06.70.

Teammate Michael Churitch was 21st with a time of 15:47.00.

Brentwood Academy senior twins Andrew Bull (31st, 15:54.70) and Garrett Bull (33rd, 15:54:90) were the only other Williamson County runners to finish in the top 50 of the 473 competitors.
