For the second straight year, Brentwood Middle School captured the Williamson County Mayor’s Cup Golf Championship, with a two-day total of 53, 13 under par and a new course record for the event played at Spencer Creek Fairways.
Grassland Middle (7-under 59) finished second with Sunset Middle (2-over 68) in third.
The two-day tournament features a two-man scramble on the first day, followed by an alternate shot round on the second. Each Williamson County middle school sent three two-man teams to the competition.
Trent Johnson and Dave Windley took the scramble honors for BMS, firing an event record 8-under 25 on the first day. Johnson was joined by Barrett Jones to take the alternate shot round on the second day, firing a round of 5-under 28.
Unofficial honors as best putter at the event fell to Brentwood’s Jones, a seventh grader who both days hit an eagle putt on the par five, 429-yard first hole.
Grassland Middle School will be seeking a third-straight county team title today at 3:30 p.m. today at Spencer Creek Fairways, weather permitting.
