It was a big weekend for sports in Williamson County and not just in football either.
Page, Brentwood and Ravenwood all punched their tickets for a trip to Murfreesboro Wednesday to compete in the Class AA/A and Class AAA state volleyball tournament. BGA came up one match short, being upset at home Saturday night by St. Georges out of Memphis.
Independence-Summit took a 6-1 win over Mt. Juliet-Wilson Central Friday night in GNASH action as Chase Macnicoll had a pair of goals.
Brentwood stopped Centennial 4-2 in one of the oldest rivalries in the league. Branden Crowe, Matthew Isbell, Michael Feeney and Nikolaus Jones all scored for the Bruins, turning back the efforts of Ian Curie and John Miller.
Hume Fogg-Page scored three goals in the third period but couldn’t overcome a 5-2 deficit at the start of the period, losing to Blackman-Stewarts Creek 7-5. Kyle Bartels had three goals for HF-P.
Franklin-Oakland continued to win, downing Station Camp-Beech 5-3. Goalie Peter Yasso had 22 saves in the contest.
Centennial B fell to the traveling Tennessee Outlaws 11-1. Harrison Donini had the Centennial goal, with an assist from Kevin Roberts.
Brentwood sits atop the Tier One standings after just two games, while in Tier Two Indepence-Summit and Franklin-Oakland are tied at 3-1.
Brentwood’s Mason Mingus created a stir at Talladega, qualifying 12th for his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at over 174-mph. Unfortunately, an oil leak developed early, ending Mingus to an early exit.
