Four county teams headed for soccer state championship

Four Williamson County teams are headed to the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association Soccer State Championships next week in Murfreesboro after winning sectional events Saturday night.

Ravenwood used a strong second half at home Saturday night to end Hendersonville’s season with a 3-0 win.  Goalkeeper Lindsey Todd got the shut-out, sending the Raptors to the Class AAA tournament.

Franklin will be back in familiar territory, hunting for the trophy, after a 2-1 win on the road at Clarksville.  Liza Harbin had the winning goal, giving the Rebels a pay-back victory over the team that kept them from going to the state tournament last year.

Fairview’s Morgan Mooney has been on a scoring spree in recent games, but needed only one Saturday night to send the Yellow Jackets to the next round.  Fairview ousted White House with a 1-0 win for a Class A/AA berth.

In Division II A, an early penalty kick by Korrie Sauder proved to be all the Wildcats needed to start packing their bags for Murfreesboro, compliments of a 1-0 shutout win over Sacred Heart of Memphis.

State championship play begins Wednesday, continues Thursday before a day off on Friday.  The finals are scheduled for next Saturday.
