Franklin, Ravenwood advance-Fairview ends season

Franklin took another step towards yet another state soccer title yesterday afternoon with a hard fought 1-0 quarter-final victory over Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett at the Richard Siegel Soccer Complex in Murfreesboro.
"I don't know why it takes us 40 to start playing," said Franklin coach Jimmy Burchette, "but it is what is."
Liza Harbin got the only goal for the Rebels, kicking through a pass from Meredith Slessman at the 63:37 mark.
"That's been a concern for us, the lack of offensive production."
Ravenwnood had an easier time, scoring three in the first 40-minute half and adding a pair in the second for a 5-1 win over Collierville.
With the wins, Franklin will face Houston, a team that has been at the top of the state rankings along with the Rebels and the Raptors, at 2:30 p.m.  Ravenwood is scheduled to play Knoxville Farragut at 5 p.m.
Both games are weather permitting.  TSSAA officials announced this afternoon  that with the forecast of potentially severe weather, they would review the situation at 11 a.m. Thursday and make a decision on changes, if any, to the schedule..
Fairview's Yellow Jackets won't have to wait for the weather, ending their season with an 8-0 loss to Knoxville Catholic in the Class A/AA quarterfinals.  Catholic, a former AAA school, dropped down to AA this year in a sport that combines both Class A and AA.  The Yellow Jackets were the highest finishing  public school in the division.
