Ravenwood last soccer team standing

It took almost two overtimes, but Ravenwood got past Farragut 3-2 yesterday, sending the Raptors into today’s Class AAA State Soccer Championship game.
Amber Tanner fired home the winning goal off of an assist from Lexi Arnold at the 93-minute mark to take the Raptors’ second and final lead.
Dayna Hood, off an assist from Tanner, put the Raptors in front at the 10 minute mark before Farragut tied up just before half. Farragut scored less than ten minutes into the second half to take a 2-1 lead before Tanner got her first goal of the game, unassisted, just eight minutes later, forcing what became double overtime.
Ravenwood will face Houston High from Germantown, the third ranked team in the nation, at 11 a.m. at the Siegel Soccer Complex on Cherry Lane in Murfreesboro.
Houston ended Franklin’s season 3-0 yesterday. Franklin dominated the first half of that contest, but was unable to put the ball in the net, leaving the teams tied at 0-0 at the half.
“I think the first half was an indication of our game and we couldn’t take advantage of the opportunities we had,” said Franklin coach Jimmy Burchette, a multiple time state champion coach.
Houston opened the second half by scoring twice in the first four minutes, once at the 43-minute mark and again 60-seconds later. It was enough of a cushion to secure the victory without the final goal at the 69-minute mark.
“The only thing you can ask is that your players give it everything they’ve got and play as smart as they can. I think we did that today.”
Franklin ended the season 17-3-5 with losses only to Ravenwood (2) and Houston.
Battle Ground Academy followed the Rebels back to Franklin with their last game of the season complete. St. George’s scored 18-minutes into the game and the single digit was enough to take the victory. BGA finished with a 14-4-5 record.
