Shelter names new veterinarian Dr. Debra Burch joins staff

Williamson County Animal Control and Adoption Center announced the appointment of Dr. Debra Burch of Franklin, as chief veterinarian for the facility. Dr. Burch joined the staff recently and will serve as a full-time on-site veterinarian for all the animals in the care of the shelter. 
Dr. Burch is a 2003 graduate of North Carolina State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She has served as a veterinarian with several Middle Tennessee clinics, including the last seven years at Hermitage Animal Clinic. 
In addition to overseeing medical care and disease control policies at the Williamson County Animal Control and Adoption Center, Dr. Burch will focus on the mandatory sterilization surgeries required by the shelter for all adopted animals. She will also provide ongoing training for shelter staff and advise the director, Laura Chavarria,  on medical matters.
Williamson County Animal Control and Adoption Center at 106 Claude Yates Drive in Franklin is open for adoptions from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Adoptable animals can also be viewed at For more information, call (615) 790-5590, visit  or like Williamson County Animal Shelter on Facebook.
