Volleyball: BGA stays unbeaten in district play with one more match looming

FRANKLIN – The Battle Ground Academy volleyball team stayed unbeaten in Division II-A Middle Region District 3 play Tuesday with a three-set sweep at University School of Nashville.

The Wildcats bested USN 25-12, 25-20, 25-9 to improve to 13-0 in district play with one regular season district match to play Thursday at Middle Tennessee Christian School.

BGA won the first meeting with MTSC in four sets on Sept. 6 and also won in straight sets in tournament play earlier this month as well.

Addison Atkins notched 11 kills and Gillian Baisden added nine more the Wildcats, while Kyra Hampton tallied 17 kills, six kills and two aces.

Julianna Santiago and Campbell Dobbs had the hot serving hands. Santiago recorded six aces and Dobbs had five more.

BGA swept past Providence Christian Academy on Monday, 25-21, 25-18, 25-19. Mackenzie Huntington paced the girls with 13 kills and Baisden added eight kills with four blocks in that win.

Over the weekend, BGA finished third at the Border Battle at the TOA Sports Complex in Franklin – a tournament won by Nolensville.

The Wildcats, the defending DII-A state champions, sit at 26-4 overall.
